Ramiro Castro Jr., is a South Texas Native born and raised. Spending 16 years in San Antonio Texas, as a musician for a Latin/Rock/Alternative band as percussionist and band manager, this allowed him to primarily work production in the recording studio and become the PR Rep for a small record label. This provided him the opportunity to take photographs and work on some music videos, hence reigniting his passion for film production. Since 2018, he has again resided in the Rio Grande Valley, pursuing his love for theater and film-making by enrolling himself back into school after 12 years and finally earning his degree in Theatre Arts from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley(UTRGV).
Ramiro is passionate about Directing, Film Production, Editing, Photography, and ScreenWriting. Having experience with Location Sound Recording, he has recently worked on a few Independent films which have been showcased at the South Texas International Film Festivals in 2023 and 2022. Award winning films Iike, "Herida Aberita"(A Third Country), "Hit Astray", and "Phantom Pain", which earned him the South Texas International Film Festival(STXIFF) Best South Texas Sound Award for the film Phantom Pain.
He also wrote and directed a stage play entitled "She Was My Muse" in which he was also the co-director of the event the Ten-Minute Play Festival at UTRGV Fall 2022, which showcased 20 students who all wrote a 10-minute stage-plays of their own. Ramiro has also been fortunate enough to take part in the National Geographic Photo Camp Workshop, that took place in Brownsville Texas for the first time during their 20th year anniversary as a Teacher's Assistant Photographer.
