Pranathi Damodar is an Indian actor known for her emotionally resonant performances and quietly powerful screen presence. Originally from Andhra Pradesh, Pranathi spent her formative years living in various parts of India and abroad, which gave her a rich exposure to different cultures and shaped her broad, empathetic worldview.
Although she began her professional journey in the medical field, earning her dentistry degree from D.Y. Patil, Pune, and working in a clinic in Abu Dhabi, Pranathi always carried within her a deep creative spark.
Eventually, she chose to leave her medical career and return to India to explore acting. Unsure at first whether it would become a lifelong pursuit, she immersed herself in theatre, training with the Nishumbita Ballet and Theatre Group under the guidance of Mr. Ram Holagundi in Hyderabad.
Theatre became her gateway into the world of performance. It was on stage that she discovered the electric stillness of acting, the thrill of becoming someone else, and the deep sense of purpose that came with telling stories truthfully.
After spending nearly three years trying to break into the Telugu film industry, she eventually shifted focus to Bombay, where auditions began opening doors and people started to see something in her.
Her screen career took off with Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein Season 2 on Netflix, where she portrayed Menka Shukla, a performance that earned her recognition for its layered subtlety. This was followed by a striking turn in Sudhir Mishra's Summer of 77: Children of Freedom, where she played a Dalit mother navigating love, loss, and resilience.
She will next be seen as a journalist in the upcoming feature film Main, starring alongside Amit Sadh and Esha Deol. She also recently wrapped Aakasam Dhaati Vasthaava, which is awaiting release. It is a Telugu film where she plays a fast talking reality show anchor, her most high energy role to date. Additionally, she made a brief appearance in Aamir Khan's Sitare Zameen Par.
