Bardia Samia is an Iranian-American writer, director, and editor based in California. He is the founder of 1401 Films, an independent production company focused on stories from underrepresented perspectives, particularly those rooted in the Iranian and diaspora experience.
His short film NEXT follows two sisters living under an authoritarian regime in Iran as they wrestle with whether one person can make enough of a difference to matter. A Passage of Silence centers on a surveillance officer whose loyalty to the regime fractures when his own son needs help escaping it. His documentary short A Dancer's Story tracks a dancer's recovery from injury and her search for identity beyond performance. A Dancer's Story won three Best Documentary Awards and screened at Cinequest Film Festival.
