Biography

  • Fredrick Marshall Baber was born in Ohio. Moving to Florida at a very early age, he fell in love with movies watching "The Towering Inferno" and "Star Wars" in the 70's. Acting in his first play at the age of 11, he learned to love performing and honed that in the nightclub scene, appearing on stage as a variety of artists from Michael Jackson to Prince. A natural storyteller, his experiences in the Marines led to his first screenplay "Trial By Ordeal". One slow night where he managed a big box retail store, he took it upon himself to dispose of 96 animatronic babies marked unsuitable for sale. The horror short "Night of the Living Dead Robo-Babies" was born, along with a love of creating movie magic. Marriage, kids and life took center stage and creating magic took a back seat. Life changes resulted in the murder mystery "Alibi Witness" and horror/thriller "Pavement Ends." His screenplay "Alibi Witness" made Austin Film Festival's second round 2 years in a row as well. He discovered the NYC Midnight screenplay contest, placing in the top 8, 3 years in a row. A touchup of the screenplay "Tragic" led him to Chris Mortensen and CJM Films Productions, where he took on the role of sleazy "problem solver" Alan McGuire. It was after that that he knew it was time. Fearlessly, he decided to pursue a dream he was told to give up on; writing/producing and directing his first feature, "Pavement Ends". "Pavement Ends" was slated to begin principal photography in August of 2024 in upstate Maine. Sadly production for was shelved after Fredd passed away tragically in plan crash in upstate New York. Fredd left behind his wife Janice, his daughter Caitlyn, his granddaughter, his friends, his family and a legacy of passion to the arts and to life
