Cheryl Nierves Sunio (formerly Cheryl Teodosio) is an award-winning Filipino-Canadian producer, writer, director, actor, and casting director based in Toronto. Her character-driven storytelling transforms everyday moments into layered explorations of the human experience, revealing emotional truths through humor, layered perspectives, and interconnected lives that coexist within a single story. Through emotionally resonant narratives, she explores identity, culture, relationships, belonging, and the quiet realities of everyday life while amplifying underrepresented voices and fostering cross-cultural understanding. She has collaborated with award-winning filmmakers, including King Louie Palomo, producing and casting short films such as Goodbye with a Side of Lechon, Unwritten, An Open Box, Cash Only, Hay Nako, Don't text your Ex, and Tabo Is My Everything. As an actor, Cheryl trained with Star Magic ABS-CBN/AMP Studios Canada and has appeared in TV series Halo Halo TV and multiple short films in lead and supporting roles. Cheryl serves as a Board Director at the Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto (LIFT). She earned a Certificate in Entertainment Law from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University in 2026, a Post-Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management from York University in 2024, and completed professional management training at Conestoga College in 2019. She also holds a degree in Chemistry and studied Chemical Engineering as a scholar from University of Mindanao. She brings a thoughtful, analytical approach to every stage of filmmaking, ensuring precision and efficiency in every project. Cheryl has produced and cast numerous festival-screening short films and has mentored emerging filmmakers. She is committed to creating meaningful stories that foster cultural understanding, preserve diverse voices, and connect with audiences around the world.
