Kimi Meguro was the only Japanese director under 35 invited to on-site programs, such as the Ateliers Varan, and to official multilingual filming labs associated with the 4 major international film festivals and the 51st Oscars in Brazil (2023), as of the 2021 festival season in the Far East.
Kimi also engaged with 3 TIFF platforms including Toronto, Tashkent (Moscow and Afro Asian), and Tokyo (Busan) in several roles, and participated in the Jeonju International Short Film Festival (2023), which showcases only the top 0.4% of all shorts.
Right after studying abroad in Spain, Kimi appeared in a regional film that garnered international attention, with features in the International New York Times and The Japan Times (2014). The film went on to set a new Japanese record for long-running screenings (2015-2019).
Has stayed in approximately 200 cities around the world, met friends over 100 nationalities and taught himself 4 to 5 different languages, since his mid-20s.
