Biography

Barney Liddell was born on August 12, 1921 in Gary, Indiana, USA. He is known for Top Tunes and New Talent (1956), Lawrence Welk's Christmas Reunion (1985) and From the Heart: A Tribute to Lawrence Welk and the American Dream (1993). He was married to Elaine Liddell. He died on May 5, 2003 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

Attended the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana

Began his playing days at Lou Wallace High School,his first choice was the alto sax but his school was out of saxophones, his second choice was the trumpet but they were all out, finally he chose the trombone and the rest was history

Played with several bands before and after Lawrence Welk, they include Tommy Dorsey, Sid Catlett, Billy Holiday, J.C. Higginbotham, Red Allen and Tony Scott's Quintet

Served as road manager on the live Lawrence Welk concert tours
