Carmen Cárdenas studied Film and Visual Arts at Columbia University before earning her MFA in Set and Production Design at NYU Tisch. She began her career as an art department production assistant, working her way up through art departments in film and television. After graduate school, she joined the union as a member of Local 829, United Scenic Artists, and went on to work as art director on Succession (2019) and Inventing Anna (2022), and as production designer on Three Women (2023). Cárdenas is also co-founder of Studio MaRō, a Brooklyn-based interior design studio.
