Biography

Michael Angelo has been providing production and editorial services since the 1990s specializing in Autodesk Flame. While servicing commercial clients in Los Angeles, California, Michael Angelo is directing the feature documentary A DocumenTree. With a long history working in production, editorial and visual effects, career highlights include VFX for Super Bowl commercials, director of music videos and documentaries, prime time story editor for the Olympics, VFX for feature films like Knight and Day, Time Traveler's Wife, X-Men Origins, Jumper, Live Free or Die Hard and many other projects.

Born in San Francisco, California, Michael Angelo began his career in film and television working his way through college in the camera department at the Northern California camera rental facility Magnetic Image. While completing a degree in Broadcast Communication at San Francisco State University, Michael directed and produced a short documentary about the Therapon Association which provided housing and care for autistic children and adults in Marin County CA. While attending SFSU Michael worked as a researcher for THX Lucasfilm located at Skywalker Ranch. Lucasfilm allowed him access to the world of visual effects at the infamous Industrial Light and Magic. While shadowing world renown Visual Effects Supervisor Ken Ralston at ILM for a photo journalism assignment, Michael caught the VFX bug which lead to a long career in visual effects. After graduation Michael pursued a freelance career in advertising, shooting and editing test commercials for Goodby Silverstein and Partners among others. Eventually Michael moved fully into post production working as an online editor, colorist and visual effects artist at Pacific Video Resources. Michael spent years working with directors of features, commercials and documentaries including well known documentary director Werner Herzog. Michael was an editor at the 1998 CBS Winter Olympics in Nagano Japan cutting the first snowboarding competitions in the history of the Olympics. He was also the prime time features editor at the NBC 2000 Olympics for swimming. In 1998 Michael then transitioned to working as a Flame Artist focusing his attention on visual effects and in 2012 began directing the documentary A DocumenTree.
