Biography

Drew Mikuska is a film, television, & videogame composer living and working in Los Angeles, California. He currently works with prolific film composer Brian Tyler as his music assistant, recently working on the scores for "Transformers: One" (2024) from Paramount, "Abigail" (2024) from Universal, and the upcoming "Nuremberg" (2025) from director James Vanderbilt.

Recently, Mikuska also contributed additional music to composer Ryan Shore's score for the family-horror-comedy "Zombie Town" (2023). Prior, Mikuska orchestrated and arranged composer Anton Sanko's score for the Netflix feature "Single All the Way" (2021). This is his fifth collaboration with Sanko as additional writer, orchestrator, and arranger, following Netflix's "The Half of It" (2020), Netflix's "Fractured" (2019), and two seasons of Freeform's "Siren." Their work on Sanko's score for French feature "Amanda" (2018) was nominated for "Best Score" at the César Awards in 2019. For his first foray into videogame scoring, Mikuska recently worked with composer-colleague Alex Ruger to co-score the indie-fantasy game "HammerHelm" (2021) for SuperSixStudios.

Mikuska has completed significant additional composing & arranging work in animated television for composer Leo Birenberg on Apple TV+'s "Interrupting Chicken," Dreamworks's "Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous," Adult Swim's "Tigtone," and Apple TV+'s "Central Park." He also extensively wrote on all three seasons of Disney's "Vampirina" for composer Layla Minoui, Apple TV+'s "Stillwater" for Toby Chu, and Dreamworks's "She-Ra and the Princesses of Power" for Sunna Wehrmeijer. Other selected credits include additional writing for: Disney's "Mickey's Tale of Two Witches" for Tony Morales, Dreamworks's "Spirit: Riding Free" for Peter Bateman, Amazon's "Super Spy Ryan" for Steph Kowal, and Dreamworks's "Dragons: Rescue Riders" for Josh Moshier.

Mikuska completed a Masters of Music in Screen Scoring in the Spring of 2017 at the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music after finishing a Bachelors of Music in Composition with honors at USC in 2016. During his time at USC, he was awarded the ASCAP Betty Rose Award & Scholarship, which is presented each year to an "outstanding, promising composer participating in The ASCAP Foundation Composer-in-Residence Program at the University of Southern California."

In addition, Mikuska has been selected to participate in a variety of prestigious professional scoring workshops. He completed a fellowship in the 2018 Los Angeles Film Conducting Intensive under the mentorship of Conrad Pope, William Ross, and Angel Velez after taking part in the 2017 ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop with Richard Bellis, through which he was recognized with the ASCAP Foundation Michelle and Dean Kay Award for his achievements. In 2024, He participated in a animated musical-theatre songwriting workshop through ASCAP's Musical Theatre Festival, where he had three hours to collaborate with a songwriter to present and perform an original character song to a panel of Disney television executives. He also took part in the NYU/ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop the summer of 2016.

During his time in LA, Mikuska has also had the privilege of writing for, assisting and interning for several other outstanding media composers, including: Joe Trapanese, Jake Monaco, Gabriel Mann, Patrick Kirst, Peter Golub, Andrew Hewitt, and at Remote Control Productions. Outside of his current work assisting Brian Tyler, Mikuska consistently continues to collaborate on original scores for indie features & shorts and strives to foster long-term partnerships with directors and filmmakers in his Los Angeles community.

He has received training for voice, piano and acting at Stacey De & Co. School for Performing Arts in Lombard.

After doing a commercial, he caught the eye of Scary Movie 3 (2003)'s casting director, John Papsidera. He secured the role of "Cody".

Began acting at the age of 4 in various Chicago-based theatrical productions.

Has been coached by Marnie Cooper School of Acting in Los Angeles.
