Biography

Samuel Chotzinoff was born on July 4, 1889 in Vitebsk, Russian Empire [now Belarus]. He was a producer, known for Hallmark Hall of Fame (1951), The Alcoa Hour (1955) and Amahl and the Night Visitors (1952). He was married to Pauline Heifitz. He died on February 9, 1964 in New York City, New York, USA.

A former producer at NBC, he was the author of a highly controversial, and some say notoriously unreliable, book about legendary conductor Arturo Toscanini, who conducted the NBC Symphony Orchestra from 1937 to 1954.

In addition to his NBC consultant and producer duties, "he was a music critic, a pianist, a novelist, a playwright, a raconteur, a wit, and an urbane and gentle man," according to The New York Times.
