Aukai is a German-American composer and musician.
Born in East Germany, 15 years before the wall came down, Aukai moved to Potsdam near Berlin at age 16. He played as guitarist in alternative rock bands as a part of East Germany's vibrant '90s rock scene before shifting his focus to work as a theater, film and TV actor in Berlin and St. Petersburg.
After moving to Mexico and marrying into a Mexican family in 2005, he became interested in indigenous and world music. In 2016, after many travels and relocating to Colorado with his family, Aukai started releasing his own music, as well as composing original scores to picture.
