Few actors in the world have had a career as unusual as Panya Chheng's. Chheng has gone from the most humble beginnings, as a violent criminal in Strong Against Crime (1996) and the sequel Strong Against Crime for Kids (1996), to a gong-ringer on Walker Texas Ranger (1997), to a major heartthrob in the 2020s, as the hunky actor in movies such as Secrets Safe (2024). This includes a 20 year break from acting to pursue a career in the technology industry.
Panya Chheng was born in Battambang, Cambodia as the oldest child of Prasith Chheng (née Ly) and Yim Chheng. In 2024, he played the neurotic con-artist Derrick in the short film Secrets Safe. Secrets Safe is a heist film directed by his acting coach, Richie Chance, as part of a novel approach to filmmaking which requires the actors to be cast before the script is written.
