- On June 10, 2012, two days after learning that her illness was terminal, she married her longtime partner Eric Cash in a simple ceremony in a San Francisco Hospital's meeting room.
- On June 8, 2012, she found out that her breast cancer had spread to her brain, and she was given anywhere from a few weeks to three months to live.
- On June 4, 2012, she was taken to San Francisco Hospital with complications from breast cancer. At this time she was suffering from severe dehydration, due to chemotherapy, and two blood clots (one in her right upper arm and another in her jugular).
- In August 2011 she underwent a mastectomy.
- In April 2011 she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
