The monarch's companion was buried in the grounds when he passed away and the King also commissioned Emma Stothard to create a willow sculpture of Tigga for visitors of the gardens to admire.

One of Tigga's offspring, Freddy, is the pet of Prince Charles' companion Camilla Parker Bowles.

Tigga, Prince Charles Jack Russell, was welcomed into the family as a puppy and quickly became a much-loved member of the royal household. The pet pooch even featured on family portraits and on an annual Christmas card.

However, Tigga first came to national prominence on a wintery April day back in 1994 when his daughter, Pooh - they were both named after A A Milne characters - mysteriously disappeared at Balmoral, leading to the biggest dog-hunt in the nation's history.
