Valentina Rozental was born in Iquique, Chile, a coastal city known for its natural beauty and vibrant culture. From an early age, Valentina showed a deep attraction to art, finding dance and photography her main hobbies. This passion for artistic expression accompanied her throughout her childhood and adolescence.
At the age of 12, Valentina discovered surfing, a sport that quickly captured her heart and mind. Her enthusiasm for surfing grew over time, leading her to combine her love for the sport with her photography skills. At the age of 20, she began capturing surf images in her hometown, also working at various surf schools, where she taught children and documented her classes with her camera.
Although her first academic path was in Mining Engineering, a career she studied in Chile and perfected with a master's degree in Canada, Valentina soon realized the negative impacts of mining on the environment and how the extracted resources benefited large countries more than her own nation. This realization was the catalyst that prompted her to reconsider her career path.
After finishing her studies, Valentina embarked on a journey that would change the course of her life. With only $200 and her camera, she began a journey around the world, working in surf schools and pursuing her passion for surf photography and videos. Her first destination was Peru, followed by Ecuador, where she worked as a night bartender and photographer at parties and surf-related events.
Her adventure took her to Costa Rica, where she had one of the best experiences of her life, learning English and developing her talent as a videographer while working in various tourism agencies. After a year and a half in Costa Rica, Valentina moved to Mexico, specifically to Oaxaca-Puerto Escondido, where she lived the exciting experience of filming XXL waves and participating in surf championships as a videographer.
Valentina is a true nomad, always looking for new adventures and documenting every corner of the world she reaches. Her journey continued down the California coast, from San Diego to San Francisco, where she toured Warner Bros Studios. The experience at the film production studio left a lasting impression on her, leading her to decide that her next goal would be to venture into filmmaking.
Today, Valentina Rozental continues to pursue her dreams, combining her love of surfing, photography, video, and film. Her journey remains a source of inspiration to many, showing that passion and determination can transform lives and open up new opportunities in the vast world of art and adventure.
In 2023, Valentina released her first film, "Destination Hawaii." The work is a cinematic autobiography that chronicles her personal and professional journey, reflecting how she managed to achieve her dreams despite the numerous difficulties she encountered along the way. The film has received praise for its authenticity and the inspiration it conveys.
Currently, Valentina is immersed in the production of two documentaries in Hawaii. These projects are receiving international attention and are being selected in various film festivals around the world. Her ability to capture the essence of surfing and her determination to tell impactful stories continue to set the standard in the field of cinematography and documentary.
