Christina Anthony

Mini bio

  • Christina Anthony is a Los Angeles-based writer, performer, vocalist and comedian with Midwest roots. With a career spanning over two decades, she specializes in new comedies for the stage and screen. With a foundation built on political satire and improv, she is perhaps best known as Aunt Denise from ABC's Mixed-ish. In addition to onscreen work, she has brought comedy to The Kennedy Center and improv to audiences from The Atlantic Theatre to the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre and back again, to name a few. She is a Jeff Award winning alum of the Second City Chicago where she co-wrote and performed three revues (Brother Can You Spare Some Change, Studs Terkel's Not Working, and The Absolute Best Friggin' Time of Your Life). Her original pilot Introducing Cheryl Jackson was a finalist in the Refinery29/TNT Riot Comedy Lab. Christina is a trusted comedic voice that focuses on Black girlhood, nostalgia, ambition, generational curses, and the impact of (under)representation. She often does stand up and debuts new essays as a contributor to the live magazine Paper Machete at the Green Mill in Chicago. Christina is also committed to empowering a new generation of comedic writer-performers. She is a sought after creative writing teaching artist and improv coach who partners with public schools, universities, corporations.
