Growing up in New Jersey, John Brennan was a catcher on his high school baseball team. I suspect he had lots of collisions on the plate. But John is the kind of guy who would not flinch. He is old school. He'd work harder than everyone else and stand his ground when he believed he was right. His integrity is unassailable. There is nobody better to run the CIA.

[on if American Intelligence could've stopped 9/11 from happening] You look back at what we were doing around the world at the time, in the spring and summer, the concern that we raised, obviously there were some people - we made mistakes at the back end - FBI made mistakes, CIA made mistakes, but here's, I think, the larger systemic point. The country never thought about this as something that was going to happen here, and as a consequence, did we have a system of domestic protection in place?
