With her family she first moved to Palestine, then to Lebanon (where she met Delphine Seyrig at the age of seven) and finally to France, where she received French citizenship in 1957. After a longer stay in the USA, she returned to France in 1968, where she worked as a teacher and translator. In 1975 she founded the collective Les Insoumuses together with Carole Roussoloulos and Delphine Seyrig and began to realize her own films. Together with Seyrig and Roussopoulos, she founded the Centre audiovisuel Simone de Beauvoir in 1982 and became its president after Delphine Seyrig's death in 1990.
