Biography

  • Tom Williams was born in 1970 in Sydney, Australia. After finishing high school, Tom worked as a builders laborer while modeling part time. He also worked in the advertising industry for two years before leaving Australia to travel the world as a twenty-five year old. He spent several years snowboarding in Canada before returning to Australia where he continued his sporting pursuits, finishing as a finalist in the 2000 Australian and World Titles of Open Men's Surf Boat Competition. In July 2000, Tom called into a radio talk back program on Sydney radio station Triple J. The show was hosted by comedic duo Merrick & Rosso, who liked the style of "Tom The Chippy From Manly [a Sydney suburb]". When the pair moved to rival radio station Nova 969, Tom moved with them and began presenting his own segment, "The Chippy Driver Reviver", in April 2001. Soon after that, he was offered a job on the travel program "The Great Outdoors", which he began filming in July 2001. In early 2005, Tom appeared in the second season of the ballroom dancing program, "Dancing With The Stars", which he and his partner (Kym Johnson) won last April. Tom his can currently be seen each week on "The Great Outdoors" alongside reigning Miss Universe, Jennifer Hawkins. Tom is single and has no children. He currently resides in Sydney.
