Biography

Christian Bonke is a Danish film director and screenwriter working at the intersection of fiction and documentary.

A graduate of the National Film School of Denmark, he has developed a distinctive filmmaking approach that combines professional actors with real people and environments.

His feature documentary Ballroom Dancer premiered internationally to critical acclaim and received several awards. His fiction feature debut, Hercules Falling(2025), world-premiered in the First Feature Competition at Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, where it won both Best Film and the FIPRESCI Award. The jury praised the film’s documentary precision and Bonke’s direction of professional actors and non-actors.

Bonke is based in Copenhagen and works across fiction, documentary and hybrid filmmaking.
