Markus Lanz was born on March 16, 1969 in Bruneck, Italy. He is an actor and writer, known for Markus Lanz (2008), Wanna Bet? (1981) and Sharknado 5: Global Swarming (2017). He has been married to Angela Gessmann since July 2, 2011. They have one child.

Enjoys windsurfing and skiing.

Author of "Und plötzlich guckst du bis zum lieben Gott" (lit. for And suddenly you look up to the dear lord, 2007), the biography of Horst Lichter, a prominent German chef.

Has son Laurin Luis (b. September, 15 2000) from his previous relationship with Birgit Schrowange and a daughter (b. Oktober 2014) with his wife Angela Gessmann.

Is fluent in German, Italian and English.
