- François de Menthon was born on January 8, 1900 in Montmirey-la-Ville, Jura, France. He died on June 2, 1984 in Annecy, Haute-Savoie, France.
- Minister of Justice of France 1944 and prosecutor at Nuremberg, he was named Compagnon de la Libération (1945) , His son Jean de Menthon (France 1924- 9 September 2018, Paris, France) was an public servant who took an important but unsung part in the decolonization of Franch Africa. He lived in Togo and was an author. François de Menthon is also the father of diplomat Michel Reveyrand-de Menthon.
