Biography

Daryl Stuermer was born on November 27, 1952 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. He is an actor and composer, known for Phil Collins: In the Air Tonight (1981), Phil Collins: Take Me Home (1985) and Phil Collins: Wake Up Call (2003). He was previously married to Michaela Anne Carey.

Recruited by Genesis for their live shows after the departure of former lead guitarist Steve Hackett in 1977.

Co Wrote "Only You Know And I Know", "Doesn't Anybody Stay Together Anymore", "Something Happened On The Way To Heaven" and "Least You can Do" with Phil Collins.

Phil Collins described Stuermer as a "permanent-temporary part-time member" of Genesis and as a "permanent-touring-recording-member" of his solo act. Stuermer has also played on Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks' solo albums.

Daryl Stuermer also wrote the song "I Don't Wanna Know" on the Phil Collins album "No Jacket Required." Originally, Daryl wrote the song as an instrumental called "F Song"-which he performed with his own band and the Milwaukee band "Oceans" in 1983-1984. Daryl brought the demo to Phil's house during the recording of "No Jacket Required." Phil loved it, wrote lyrics, changed the key to E Flat, and it became "I Don't Wanna Know.".

The first time I heard Genesis was in 1977 when Jean-Luc Ponty loaned me a cassette with two of their albums, 'A Trick of The Tail' and 'Wind and Wuthering'. I was instantly a fan. In 1978 when I was asked to audition for Genesis I was excited. I flew to New York to play for Mike Rutherford. After four songs he said, 'I think you're the one.' The rest is history.
