The Three Dunhills

The Three Dunhills was a dynamic American popular dance team of the 1940's 50's and 60's who on stage (Apollo Theatre), TV variety shows and in a couple of "Golden Age" Hollywood films. The trio was also identified as The Dunhill Trio, The Dunhills and the Dunhill Dance Team. The founding members were Bob Roberts, Lou Spencer and Art Stanley. Lou Spencer, who also sidelined writing stage acts for big name stars such as Frankie Avalon, Jerry Lewis, Tony Bennett, Chubby Checker and The Everly Brothers, is the father of singer/actress Vicki Spencer.
Appearing on such stages as the Apollo Theatre and as an opening act for such top stars as Danny Kaye, the three men danced on such television variety shows as "The Ed Sullivan Show," "The Texas Star Theatre Starring Milton Berle," "The Dinah Shore Chevy Show," "The Dean Martin Show," "The Jerry Lewis Show," "The George Burns Show," "The Nat King Cole Show" and "The Hollywood Palace," among others. The trio's major film highlight was an exuberant guest appearance alongside Betty Grable in the specialty tap dance number "Japanese Boy Like 'merican Girl" for the film Call Me Mister (1951). They were also featured in a blackface minstrel number, "The Natchez and the Robert E. Lee," in the Warner Bros. musical My Wild Irish Rose (1947).
