Tyrone Singleton Bio

Tyrone Singleton was born in Surrey and trained at the Arts Educational School in Tring and the Royal Ballet School. He obtained the ARAD (advanced Royal Academy of Dance) and Solo Seal qualifications. He joined Birmingham Royal Ballet in 2003 and became Principal Danseur in 2013. Tyrone's progress through the Company, marked by various roles, has revealed different facets of his talent. Early successes in Birmingham included Moondog in The Lady and the Fool and Othello in The Shakespeare Suite. Still, his range as a dancer is broad and covers everything from the leading male roles in classics such as Swan Lake, Coppélia, and Cinderella to the purer Neo-Classicism of Agon and Concerto. Most impressive, though, is the power and sheer physical presence that mark his performances in more contemporary ballets like In the Upper Room, Nine Sinatra Songs, and Take Five. In dramatic roles of complexity and substance, he has shown rare gifts. He has given outstanding performances as the "Beast" in Beauty and the Beast, Galveston, Mortimer in Edward II, and the Third Seminarian in Carmina Burana.

Tyrone has guested with companies internationally, throughout Europe and Japan. His Screen experience includes the Feature Film, Strictly Ballroom, as well as other daytime TV shows.

Tyrone has a keen eye for visual arts. He works as a fine art Photographer for The Birmingham Royal Ballet and various brands. His growing relationship with Canon U.K. includes working on projects, including its EOS range campaign launch.
