Biography

Chris Carraba is the Emo Rock one man band known as Dashboard Confessional. Born in West Hartford, Connecticut, Carraba was once the lead voice of rock bands such as Further Seems Forever and the Vacant Andys. Having received his first guitar from his uncle, Chris took only a mild interest in his musical talent preferring to skateboard. Until he recorded his first solo album (named "The Swiss army romance"), for the enjoyment of family and friends, but his work soon made the music circles resulting in its eventual release and Dashboard Confessional had been discovered. Chris combines heart felt lyrics with poetic wording and backs both with a warm acoustic sound from his guitar. With songs on the soundtrack for "Spider-man2" & "Shrek2", Chris is finding a new media for his work.

I am influenced by all the music I was brought up listening to and all the music I discover now.

I think I started out being pretty anti-'American Idol'. But the, by virtue of what I do for a living, I ended up meeting and spending some time with these winners or contestants and realizing the level of talent is pretty much off the charts. And that's when I began to really appreciate the show.

[on becoming the front band for 'Twin Forks' and adjusting to its alt-folk musical style ] There is like one-half of me that is a little irritated that I didn't get there first. The other half of me is so grateful that these bands enjoy the same kind of song structure and instrumentation that I do, because it's changed the ear of the average listener, who might hear a banjo come on and immediately change the channel will now listen a little closer.
