Marina Anisina is a Russian and French figure skater (ice dancing), Olympic champion (2002), world champion (2000).
From an early age, she was constantly at the skating rink, where she watched her mother train. Her mother was a Soviet figure skater, USSR champion in pair skating in 1971/1972. Then she got on skates herself. Anisina began her sports career in the USSR in a pair with Ilia Averbukh, winning gold medals at the World Junior Figure Skating Championships in 1990 and 1992.
Anisina was forced to train alone for some time, since she could not find a suitable partner in Russia. Then, on the advice of her coach, she began to look for a partner outside the country. Anisina received Gwendal Peizerat's consent and in 1993 went to France, where she lived with Gwendal's family in Lyon for the first six months. Since Peizerat refused to move to Moscow and compete for Russia, Anisina had to stay in France and obtain French citizenship, after which the couple was able to represent France at the Olympic Games. From 1996 to 2001, the pair became champions of France. In 1998, the pair became third at the Olympics in Nagano. In 2000 and 2002, they won the European Championship. In 2000, they became world champions. The finest hour of the Anisina-Peizerat pair was the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics, when they became champions. After winning the Olympic Games, the Anisina-Peizerat pair ended their careers.
