- Prafulla Roy was born on September 11, 1934 in Bikrampur, Bengal Presidency, British India [now in Munshiganj, Bangladesh]. He was a writer, known for Bagh Bondi Khela (1975), Ekhane Pinjar (1971) and Nirbachana (1994). He died on June 19, 2025 in Kolkata, West Bengal, India.
- He received the Sahitya Akademi award in 2003 for Krantikal and he got Bankim Purashkar for his work Akasher Niche Manush in 1985.
