Biography

Martin Esslin was born on June 8, 1918 in Vienna, Austria. He was a writer, known for Schweigen (1971), Goldschmidt: Beatrice Cenci (2019) and Rockaby (1982). He died on February 24, 2002.

Head of drama for BBC Overseas Service (now known as the BBC World Service) who became professor of theater at Florida state university (1969-1976), and later professor of drama (1977-1988) at Stanford.
