Biography

Ysmel Steven Abreu López, known as (Caribe Acido), is a multidisciplinary Dominican artist based in Santo Domingo.

He started his career as a production designer in 2014, showing a great inclination toward the details of the art decor and other architectural interventions for films and editorials.

Steven is known for his role in the music video clip by Maxine Ashley Santana, which premiered on Tidal in 2018. Also to be the art director for some brands and artists like Cartier, Bad Bunny, Spotify, Eladio Carrion, Canvas, the Dominican Republic Government, and others.

This underground artist is one of the most influential curators involved in the alternative movement of spoken word, music, and art events between 2013 and 2019 in Zona Colonial, Santo Domingo, pushing a documentation published on DH Latino Magazine in 2014 about the cultural and psychological impact between urban and art, behind the social exploration of others rhythms, visuals, and experiences.

Steven is currently working on his project Caribe Acido, looking for the sounds of midnight in Ciudad Nueva and leading documentation about the mystery surrealism made by the night characters on his way home with an electric trumpet as a lead band.
