- Linda Burney is a highly significant and trailblazing Australian Labor Party politician. She holds the distinction of being the first Aboriginal woman to serve in the Australian House of Representatives and the first Aboriginal woman to be appointed to Federal Cabinet. Linda was the federal Member of Parliament for Barton in southern Sydney since 2016. In July 2024, Linda Burney announced her intention to retire from federal politics at the 2025 general election.
