- He was the lead vocalist of the Rance Allen Group, founded in 1969 with his brothers Tom Allen and Steve Allen. Occasionally another brother, Esau, participated. They were known for their blend of gospel, rock, and soul. Their best-known songs include "Ain't No Need of Crying," "I Belong to You," "Do Your Will," and "Miracle Worker." They were inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 1998.
