Michelle is currently a Co-Founder at Mocha Chai Laboratories (MCL), an end-to-end boutique studio offering Content Development, Production, to Post Production and Distribution. MCL is Southeast Asia's First Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos certified facility. Her 29-year media experience includes leadership roles in Broadcast Journalism, Marketing, Sales and Sponsorships, Network Programming and Commissioning.
After two decades of green lighting more than 100 shows, she quit corporate media to team up with Mocha Chai Laboratories as Co Founder in 2019. Within a span of five years, she managed to ink three international co-productions, "Venus On Mars" with CJ ENM HK; "Decalcomania" with ONE31 Thailand (part of GMM Grammy Group) and "Lost and Found" with NHK Japan. She also secured two development deals with Disney+ and Amazon Prime, and produced two films "Seven Days" and "Wonderland" (both on Netflix). "Wonderland" was Michelle’s first film as a writer and it won a number of awards including Best Jury Award at the 2024 Palm Springs International Film Festival and Best Audience Choice Award at the 2023 San Diego Asian Film Festival.
She is also a Marketing specialist and has helmed campaigns for the National Gallery Singapore and National University of Singapore's Centre For the Arts. Armed with an intimate understanding of her audience through research and analytics, she is able to better target her consumers by seeding narratives in content and marketing campaigns.
Besides producing and developing original IP, she is also involved in growing the company’s post business- managing the day-to-day business functions, building strategic partnerships with clients and developing unique stories is fuel for her ambition to take MCL to greater heights internationally.
Prior to MCL, Michelle was responsible for green-lighting and managing all the English stations including Radio under Singapore’s National Broadcaster, Mediacorp. Notable titles include "Masterchef Singapore", "Singapore Idol". She is also a regular jury member of the Annual Asian Academy Creative Awards and panelist at Content Asia Summit. With her knack for content that works, her goal is to create compelling content with the region’s most promising and celebrated directors and writers thereby expanding MCL’s reach globally.
Michelle's creative pursuits extends beyond the screens; she has exhibited her pointillist art - of more than 100 paintings - for over a decade in Singapore, Hong Kong and South Korea. As an artist and a professional in show business, she advocates the mutual influence of one over the other and believes in creating and producing timeless stories with a unique sculpting of the telling for today's astute audience.
