Alan Younkin

Dr. Alan Younkin is Festival Director of the Allentown Film Festival and Art Show Director of Art in the Park. Raised on his family’s southeast Iowa farm, founded in 1863, he developed an early passion for animal care. He earned his DVM from Iowa State University, completed a small animal internship at the University of Missouri Columbia, and with his wife, Dr. Sybil Crocker Younkin, founded Bogey Hills Animal Hospital in St. Charles, Missouri, where he practiced for nearly three decades. After selling the hospital, he served ten years as a medical director for a national veterinary corporation and is licensed in 42 states. Alan lives in Allentown with his husband and producing partner, filmmaker Michael Schelp. Together they produced the award winning documentary BROKE(N) and the 2026 biopic Iowa Vet: Dogs, Cats, Corn, & Murder, premiering in Manhattan.
