Matthew Johns was born on July 27, 1971 in Cessnock, New South Wales, Australia. He is an actor, known for The Final Winter (2007), Sunday Night with Matty Johns (2019) and The Matty Johns Podcast (2019). He is married to Trish Johns. They have two children.

Played 176 games for the Newcastle Knights between 1992-2000. Was also part of the 1997 Premiership team where the Newcastle Knights won 22-16 over the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles. Unfortunately the salary cap forced him of the Knights and he went to Super League where he played 25 games for the Wigan Warriors in 2001. He returned to Australia in 2002 where he played 21 games for the Cronulla Sharks before neck and shoulder injuries forced him to retire at the end of the season. Matthew Johns played 4 games for New South Wales between 1995-1998. He was also selected to play for the Australian Kangaroos where be played 9 games between 1995-1999.
