Biography

Bjarne Riis was born on April 3, 1964 in Herning, Denmark. He is married to Anne Dorthe Tanderup. They have three children. He was previously married to Mette Riis.

After some of his former Telekom teammates admitted having been used illegal substances, he confessed to taking EPO, growth hormone and cortisone from 1993 to 1998, including during his victory in the 1996 Tour de France (25 May 2007).

Former Danish road bicycle racer and current team owner and manager of CSC.

First and only Dane, who has ever won the Tour de France (1996 with Telekom).

Has 2 sons from previous marriage to Mette Riis.

Resides in Toscany with wife, former professional handball player Anne Dorthe Tanderup and their 3 sons.
