- Matthew Andrew Geary Freese is an American professional soccer player who (as of 2026) plays as a goalkeeper for Major League Soccer club New York City FC and the United States men's national team. He was Team USA's starter goalkeeper in the 2026 edition of the FIFA Men's World Cup. For education he attended Harvard University, studying Economics, up until his sophomore year where broke into the pro soccer space with an offer he couldn't refuse and finished the rest of his education online while playing soccer full-time professionally.
