Biography

Sobita Kudtarkar, popularly known as 'Goenche Sobit Bai' and the 'Expression Queen of Goa', is an Indian actor, filmmaker, dancer and theatre artist working across Konkani, Hindi and Marathi cinema. With over 15 years of experience in theatre and screen performance, she has built a diverse body of work spanning feature films, short films, music videos and independent cinema. Along with fellow Goan actresses Daksha Shirodkar and Prachi Shirodkar, she is regarded as part of a golden generation of Goan actresses contributing significantly to regional cinema and performance.

She is known for her work in 'Amori' (2019), a Konkani feature film that won 'Best Feature Film (Konkani)' at the '66th National Film Awards'. Over the years, she has received multiple 'Best Actress' awards for her performances in films such as 'Wagro' (2022), 'Manas' (2026) and 'Straight Ahead' (2025), along with recognition for her work in theatre, reflecting her versatility across stage and screen.

As a filmmaker, Sobita directed the short films 'Straight Ahead' (2025) and 'Halad' (2025). 'Straight Ahead' was a finalist at the Filmfare Short Film Awards 2025. 'Halad' was the opening film for the 'Goan Stories' section at the '56th IFFI 2025' and went on to win 'Best Film' and 'Best Director' at the 'Smita Patil International Film Festival 2026', marking significant milestones in her journey as a director.
