Started his showbiz career as a ramp and commercial model before taking the big plunge as part of Regal Films' stable of young talents.

His debut movie, Nympha (1980) was top billed by Alma Moreno. His last movie, Diary of Cristina Gaston (1982) was also top billed by Moreno. He appeared in six movies with Moreno, the most among the celebrities that he co-starred.

Romantically linked to his fellow Regal Baby, Dina Bonnevie. The couple first team up in Temptation Island (1980). It was followed by Dina's launching movie, Katorse (1980). They appeared together in five movies.

His death on his 22nd birthday on December 30, 1981 was surrounded by controversy. The media reported that his death was a "suicide," caused by a self-inflicted gunshot wound. But persistent rumors claimed he was murdered upon the orders of a high-ranking official under the government of then President Ferdinand Marcos for breaking up with the daughter of the official. It was also reported that he killed himself when Dina Bonnevie broke up with him, and married Vic Sotto.

The death of Alfie Anido severely affected the senatorial candidacy of Jack Enrile in 2013. It was the main issued hurdled against the fourth-term congressman. Jack Enrile, the brother of Anido's then girlfriend Katrina Enrile, was rumored to have shot Anido. He denies any involvement in the actor's death. Jack is the son of Juan Ponce Enrile who was then the defense minister.
