Biography

Princess Michael of Kent was born on June 15, 1945 in Karlovy Vary, Czechoslovakia [now Czech Republic]. She has been married to Prince Michael of Kent since June 30, 1978. They have two children. She was previously married to Thomas Troubridge.

Received widespread criticism after wearing a blackamoor brooch to the Queen's 2017 Christmas lunch. She later issued an apology.

She is referred to as Princess Michael of Kent as the use of the title "princess" before one's given name is reserved for princesses by birth. The only way a princess by marriage can use the title is with her husband's first name, reflecting that she is sharing in his title.

Younger half-sister of Margarita (b. 18 January 1924), from her father first marriage, and sister of Baron Friedrich von Reibnitz.

Daughter of Baron Günther Hubertus von Reibnitz and his Austro-Hungarian wife, Countess Maria Anna von Muraszombath and Szapár.

Mother of Lord Frederick Windsor and Lady Gabriella Windsor.
