The daughter of writer and director Ranjit Kapoor, she is also an alumna of the National School of Drama's Theatre-in-Education (T.I.E.) program, grounding her career in stage and technique.She gained early prominence in the realm of Indian television, notably for her role as Devyani Seth in the long-running serial Tara. She secured a major breakthrough with her compelling performance as Lalita Devi in the popular family drama Kehta Hai Dil, where her portrayal of a strict mother-in-law earned her significant acclaim. Her extensive television career also features key roles such as Kaikeyi in the mythological series Siya Ke Ram and appearances in the long-running crime series C.I.D.Kapoor has made a notable presence in feature films, appearing in projects like Jaanam Samjha Karo, Hawa, and the satirical comedy Chintuji.
