- Neil was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico, into a life shaped by two distinct worlds: a father with deep cowboy roots running through West Texas, and a mother of Castilian Spanish, Indigenous, and Sicilian heritage raised in the high desert of northern New Mexico. this Raised by his single mother, his grandmother, and his two uncles- a deacon and an accountant- that tight-knit family dynamic and collision of bloodlines, landscapes, and cultures became the foundation of everything he writes.
A writer, actor, and director with over 55 screen credits, Neil holds a Master’s degree in psychology from Pepperdine University and studied at UCLA and the University of Pennsylvania. Before relocating to Los Angeles- where he quickly became a die-hard Lakers and Dodgers fan- he spent two years as a chef in Chicago, a chapter that sharpened his instinct for craft, precision, and meaningful creativity.
Early in his career, Neil worked in development at Appian Way Productions, Leonardo DiCaprio’s production company- an experience that gave him a ground-level education in what separates a compelling story. Today, he writes from a perspective that most Hollywood storytellers can only research.
