Biography

Mirzaab is an independent filmmaker, writer, and visual storyteller based in Dubai, UAE. Originally from Karachi, Pakistan, he holds a Master's degree in Public Administration from the University of Karachi and later graduated in Filmmaking from the New York Film Academy in 2011, where he received intensive, hands-on training across screenwriting, directing, production, and post-production under the mentorship of veteran Hollywood filmmaker Norman B. Schwartz.

Although his professional career has spanned industries including banking, education, merchandising, and security, storytelling has remained his lifelong calling. Long before entering film school, Mirzaab was actively involved in Urdu literature, writing poetry, prose, and short stories, several of which were published in newspapers and literary magazines. He also performed for Radio Pakistan and participated in literary and performing arts events, experiences that helped shape his narrative voice and deep appreciation for human stories.

Since relocating to the UAE in 2007, Mirzaab has pursued filmmaking as an independent creative practice, writing and directing short films, documentaries, and music videos that explore themes of human connection, resilience, loss, compassion, and hope. His work is driven by emotionally authentic characters and stories that transcend language and cultural boundaries.

Working largely outside traditional production systems, Mirzaab has embraced the challenges of independent filmmaking by mastering multiple disciplines. From screenplay development and casting to cinematography, sound, editing, and color grading, he frequently oversees every stage of production himself. Most of his films have been created on little or no budget, reflecting a belief that powerful storytelling is defined not by resources, but by vision, craft, and perseverance.

His films have been officially selected and screened at international festivals and competitions, earning recognition for their emotional depth, social relevance, and cinematic simplicity. Through each project, Mirzaab seeks to create films that resonate beyond the screen, stories that invite audiences to reflect, empathize, and reconnect with the shared experiences that define our humanity.
