Devon Edwards(I)

Devon Edwards is a storyteller with a mission and a resume that reads like a crossover episode between a war film and a Hollywood behind-the-scenes documentary. A Chicago native, Devon brings grit, discipline, and just the right amount of cinematic flair to production and post-production, shaped by an extraordinary military career spanning the U.S. Navy, Army, and Air Force (yes, all three, collecting branches like Infinity Stones). Formerly an Associate Producer at Fox Entertainment, Devon blends creative instinct with technical precision, backed by a BA in Cinematic Arts & Science from Columbia College Chicago and an MS in Cinema Production from DePaul University, because one degree simply was not cinematic enough. His filmmaking journey began with Dreams on Screen Productions in Joliet, IL, where he discovered his passion for storytelling while working on multiple feature films, including Dreams, which was acquired by Lionsgate Home Entertainment. Not a bad way to start, just casually getting your work picked up by a major distributor. Devon soon stepped behind the camera to tell his own stories, earning recognition in The Red Line Project and The Columbia Chronicle. In 2013, he was named Filmmaker of the Year for his short film The Past You Can’t Escape, a deeply personal and powerful exploration of his battle with PTSD following his service during the Global War on Terrorism, proving that his storytelling packs both emotional weight and real-world impact. Never one to stop leveling up, Devon completed the Writers Guild Foundation’s Veterans Writing Program and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Diverse Reader Training Workshop (yes, the Oscars Academy...no big deal), logging extensive story analysis training along the way. He is also an active member of the Television Academy, The Storytellers Session, and Lena Waithe’s Hillman Grad Mentorship Program, because apparently free time is optional. His dedication to both craft and community earned him the Sundance Institute Gayle Stevens Award for his volunteer contributions to the Sundance Film Festival. Devon has also taken part in top industry programs including the AT&T Veterans Media Fellowship, the Warner Media Post Coordinator Training Program, and the ABC Signature Post Production Mentorship, essentially speed running Hollywood’s most competitive pipelines. Now, as the founder of True Tribe Productions, Devon is building a creative home for bold, authentic storytelling, stories that reflect lived experience, amplify underrepresented voices, and leave audiences thinking long after the credits roll. And if there’s one thing Devon loves almost as much as storytelling, it’s proving that no matter where you start even if it’s in three branches of the military you can still end up calling "action."
