John Beaton Hill

Biography

  • John Beaton Hill is an award winning filmmaker and operates his production company Galaxy/Ad Infinitum in Los Angeles. Born and raised in Boston Massachusetts, John was an accomplished gymnast at Syracuse University where he was the recipient of the Phi Epsilon Kappa Award for most outstanding student athlete. He also attended The University of Wisconsin-Madison as well as the National Theater Institute in Waterford, Connecticut.

He was also the featured gymnast in the 1992 Olympic Games' closing ceremonies in Barcelona, Spain and brings this level of commitment and excellence to all that he does. Through Galaxy, he has a range of experience in production, including producing and acquisitions [as Director of Development and Acquisitions for Iron Entertainment] and casting and has written several screenplays, including his most recent "Killing Jane Doe" and "Devil's Lottery."

John worked closely with screenwriter Mardik Martin ("Mean Streets" and "Raging Bull") and studied with Milton Katselas and Jeffrey Tambor at The Beverly Hills Playhouse. He also studied with Byrne Piven at the Piven Theater Workshop in Chicago. Through his experience on both sides of production, he brings a rare depth of talent, commitment, focus and energy to every project in development.

John recently directed the award-winning festival short, "Millicent & Me and The Apple Tree" starring Heidi Schooler, winning "Best Comedy Short" at the French Riviera Film Festival where John was recognized for Excellence in Filmmaking. It also has been nominated in over 10 film festivals including: Toronto Independent Film Festival, London Indie Short Festival and Hong Kong Indie Film Festival.

Prior, John wrote, directed & produced the feature "The Wolves of Savin Hill," winning the prestigious Chris Brinker Award (most outstanding first feature film) at the San Diego Film Festival. "Wolves" was accepted into the Independent Filmmakers Showcase Film Festival in Los Angeles winning Audience Award for Best Feature. It also was nominated for Best Feature Film and Won Best Supporting Actress for Suzanne Willard at the Action on Film Festival.

The prestigious cast includes: Brian Scannell (Gone Baby Gone) David Cooley (American Crime Story), Megan Davis (The Depp/Heard Trial), Tonya Cornelisse (Mope), Tim DeZarn (Spiderman), Kurt Fuller (Midnight in Paris), Jack McGee (The Fighter) and Michael Massee (Se7en). "The Wolves of Savin Hill" is truly a labor of love and represents what we consider to be the first of many feature length independent films to fall under the banner, GALAXY AD/INFINITUM.
