Biography

Greg Moran broke his neck playing Rugby at St Ignatius College in 1983 in Sydney Australia at the age of 15 becoming a C3/4 quadriplegic, which meant that he had little movement or sensation below his shoulders. He spent five months in Royal North Shore hospital before returning to school in an electric wheelchair to complete his HSC.

Greg then went on to Sydney University where he completed his Arts degree majoring in English & Fine Arts.

After graduating from Uni in 1992 Greg knew that he wanted to pursue a career in writing and painting so he joined the Mouth and Foot Painting Artists and began writing screenplays and short films.

In 1998 Greg wrote and directed his first short film Begging For It.

In 2000 Greg resigned from the MFPA due to too many other work commitments.

In 2001 Greg wrote, Directed and acted in his second short film 'Backtalk'. In 2002 Backtalk won best picture under 10 minutes at the Picture this Festival in Canada.

2009 - 2010 Greg helped develop and produce the children's television program Spit It Out with Tumble TV and the Seven Network. They made two series with 65 episodes in each series.

Greg later returned to studying at the Australian Film Television and Radio School completing various short courses and advanced diplomas in Screenwriting and Script Editing for film and television.

In 2016 Greg became a stand-up/sit down comedian and won the comedy court super grand final. Greg still performs when time permits.

As well as working on his own projects Greg also works as a freelance writer, director and producer. He has worked with various production companies including The Full Box, Jungle entertainment and Northern Pictures.

In 2021 Greg wrote and directed and produced the 7 minute Short Film Culicidae.

In 2022 Greg wrote, directed, and produced the 12 minute short film White Lies.

Greg lives and works with his life partner Lisa in Lane Cove in Sydney.
