Ryley De Bold is an actress, filmmaker, and U.S. Navy veteran from Temecula, California.
At 18, she enlisted in the Navy as a Master-at-Arms, serving for seven years and ultimately separating at the rank of E-5. Growing up, Ryley had always dreamed of becoming a detective. She spent years watching shows like Law & Order and CSI, fascinated by the characters who investigated cases and pieced together the stories behind them.
After seven years in the military, however, she found herself at a crossroads and began thinking seriously about what she wanted the next chapter of her life to look like.
She started taking acting classes around 2019 and quickly fell in love with performing. While trying to figure out what direction she wanted her life to take after the military, she asked herself one question: if tomorrow were her last day, what would she regret never pursuing?
The answer was acting.
So she went all in.
Ryley went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in Performing Arts from California State University, Long Beach, graduating with high honors. She has since worked on short films, feature films, music videos, UGC commercials, and other on-camera projects.
As she gained more experience, she also became increasingly interested in what happened behind the camera. That curiosity eventually led her to pursue a second degree in Television Production, where she began learning more about directing, writing, cinematography, and the production process as a whole.
Her work now includes both acting and filmmaking, and she enjoys being involved in storytelling from multiple sides, whether she is performing, directing, writing, filming, or creating material of her own.
One of the biggest reasons Ryley was drawn to acting was the role film and television played in her own life growing up. Stories gave her a way to understand emotions she did not always have the words for yet. Through characters, she found different perspectives, lessons, comfort, and sometimes a sense of understanding that was not always available to her elsewhere.
That stayed with her. Not everyone grows up with someone teaching them how to understand every emotion, navigate every difficult experience, or make sense of everything life puts in front of them. Sometimes those lessons come from the stories we find along the way. Ryley believes the films and television people grow up with can become part of how they understand themselves and the world around them, and that realization has become an important part of why she wants to tell stories herself.
She hopes that through the characters she plays and the stories she creates, someone might recognize a piece of themselves, understand something they have been struggling to put into words, or simply feel understood for a moment. To Ryley, that is one of the most meaningful things storytelling can do.
She plans to continue building a career both in front of and behind the camera. And in a full-circle connection to the dream she had growing up, one of her biggest goals is to someday play the lead detective on a television series.
