Rob Renfro

The words Maverick and Independent were invented for people like Rob Renfro. For over 15 years, he's lived outside the lines, shunning Nashville, Los Angeles and New York. Turning down multiple major label recording deals, and opting instead to retain his privacy and all creative control over his endeavors. Keeping what he calls his "Freedom."

Freedom meaning the room to grow and evolve without labels, nor the constraints of the genre. Rob adds, "What if I wake up tomorrow and want to do a Jazz fusion album but was signed as an Alternative act to a major label?" Rob has parlayed his diverse interest into a level of success that suits him perfectly. Selling countless units on every continent music is sold. But still managing to maintain his privacy.

If you think you've heard the name Rob Renfro before, you're probably right. He's been featured on MTV news and specials, BMI sponsored television programs, and he has won numerous songwriting awards and contests. One of his "faux" groups, The Trailer Park Gangstas, has attained cult-like underground following with their hilarious adult oriented comedy material including the acclaimed "Backwoods Love" which paved the way for all adult oriented trailer trash comedy that has followed. Rob's been called into the studio for several major label recording acts, working in anonymity and usually charging only a sushi or steak dinner for his time and services. His name frequently turns up in the "special thanks" credits for independent bands and musical acts.

Collaborating with long time friend and New York Film Academy graduate Scott Bruneau, Rob's latest creative venture has been delving into the world of filmmaking. Having recently completed their first short film, "Everybody Goes Home," Rob and Scott look to a bright future. With more involved projects on the way, including a feature length mock-umentary titled "Eight Cent" about a day in the life of fictional rapper Tupac Earnhardt, one can only imagine an even greater success story in the making. And of course, Rob plans on retaining the same independent spirit with his films that he has with music over the years. Doing it his way, on his terms.

After becoming ill on the set Rob was forced to postpone his feature film about the war in Iraq titled "Degrees Of Losing". A magnificent cast had been assembled.

Since his recovery Rob has done some soul searching and is currently training for mixed martial arts competition while maintaining his musical career. He expects to return to films full force by 2012.
