Juan David Villar Steffens is a cinematographer and filmmaker born and trained in Colombia, now based in Aruba. With over nine years of experience in film and visual storytelling, he is the founder of Joel.Films, a creative studio focused on emotionally resonant, cinematic narratives.
At 33 years old, Juan has developed a visual language grounded in light, silence, and emotional depth. His work spans short films, commercial content, and branded storytelling, capturing the complexity of human experience through poetic realism.
His deepest inspiration comes from his faith in God, which guides his artistic vision and fuels his passion to tell stories that bring light, truth, and transformation.
He has led workshops in color grading and narrative cinematography, and is currently completing his short film The Echo of Silence-a story of grief, identity, and restoration through movement and memory.
Juan believes every frame is a chance to express what words leave behind. His imagery seeks not only to be seen, but to be truly felt.
